Talks With India Not Possible Until Revocation Of J&K’s Status: Analysts
Dr A.Z. Hilali (IR Expert)
The foreign policy and diplomacy of Pakistan depend upon how we promote and manage our relationship with the world powers as well as the regional countries. One of Pakistan’s main foreign policy priorities is to maintain peace and stability in the region and maintained relations with India. The recent statement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif about possible talks between both of the countries is very positive and can only happen after India reverses its illegal action of 5th August 2019 in occupied Kashmir. India on the other hand is being governed by a different mindset of religious extremism and heart-core hatred of Muslims. The Indian government led by BJP leadership is promoting this hatred as a part of their policy which is being reflected in their followers. The talks between the two countries are largely in the interest of the whole region. The Kashmir issue has now been internationalized, as United Nations have passed its resolution on the atrocities of the Kashmiri and Palestinian people. Therefore, the Kashmir issue should be resolved on a priority basis and that can’t happen without talks between India and Pakistan.
Najam-ud-Din Sheikh (Former Ambassador)
The negotiations talks between Pakistan and India are not out of the window, but these talks cannot be conclusive until the Indian government led by fascist Modi changes its stance and policies about occupying Kashmir. Modi government is committing the worst type of atrocities in IIOJ&K. It is the responsibility of the United Nations and other big powers to come forward and implement its resolution of the right of self-determination in the region. India should realize that the whole region is suffering due to its arrogant behavior. India must reciprocate Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s offer of dialogue.
